Awww... Sookie, Sookie Now!

Charlaine Harris, Dead Until Dark - This is the first book in the Sookie Stackhouse series that I've been reading. I am so obsessed with vampire reads right now! In this book we find Sookie, a twenty-something, mind-reading, blond waitress from Bon Temps, Louisiana. Anyway, she meets Bill, a very handsome vampire, whom she falls head over heels in love with. This human/vamp romance comes at a price for Sookie. Her romance with the vampire opens up a world full of danger. I've fallen in love with this series. Have you? There is also a new HBO series based on the eight books in this series called True Blood! Check it out! You won't be disappointed.

Delta of Venus

Anais Nin, Delta of Venus - This book explores the art of human sexuality in a poetic and tasteful way. I was enthralled as she took me on an adventure beyond my wildest dreams. She was open about sexuality and eroticism. The prose is interesting but not blockbuster worthy. I found it interesting and enticing but I wasn't thrilled. Nin has been described as the best erotic novelist of all time. I'm not sure of that as I have no one to compare her writings with, but she has piqued my interest and I will definitely explore different flavors of erotic novels.

Oh So Sacred!

Dennis Lehane, Sacred - Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro are at it again in this amazing roller coaster of a novel! I've quickly become a huge Lehane fan. His writing style is superb! Anyway, this is the third book in the Kenzie/Gennaro "private eye" series. It begins when a dying billionaire hires the two to help find his missing daughter. Extremely grief stricken over her beloved mother's death, this billionaire's daughter, Desiree Stone, has been missing for three weeks. Her father, billionaire extraordinaire, Trevor Stone, will spare no expense to bring his daughter home safely or at least that is what he wants my fave detectives to believe. If you haven't read a Lehane book you need to start. This man is a true talent. A force to be reckoned with!! I love you Dennis!! ♥

NaNoWrimo

What is NaNoWrimo?

First of all, NaNoWrimo stands for National Novel Writing Month. It is a no-holds-barred approach to novel writing and yes, I will be a participant this year. Basically, the goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30th. Guess what?? The contest begins November 1!! Yikes, that's mucho pressure! I am super excited about this! I've already begun building my characters and coming up with a plot. I will be writing a fantasy book. I feel that my imagination can run free with this genre. It's almost like no one cam tell me that I'm wrong because it's all make-believe. I'm finding that it is a lot of work and it's extremely stressful but I can't wait to see what kind of craziness I come up with!!

The Darkness Took My Hand!

Dennis Lehane, Darkness, Take My Hand - This second book in the Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro series really grabbed me. These young and brilliant private investigators, take you on a creepy ride through Boston to find a heartless killer. This story grabbed me until the very end. There were points during the course of my reading where I found myself absolutely frightened! I was afraid to be alone with the book! To think that there are human beings capable of such terror had me on edge. My heart pounded and I was absolutely breathless! Lehane has me convinced that he is the master of crime thrillers. After reading the first book, A Drink Before The War, I became an instant fan! The shocking evil and graphic exploits of the psychopath in this story will have thriller enthusiasts asking for more.

The "Dawn" has broken.

Well, Breaking Dawn has been released into the hands of an estimated 1.3 million vampire lovers nationwide. There are currently 3.7 million copies in print. I bet Stephenie sells every copy. I, of course, have my copy! It's in the very distinctive olive green Barnes & Noble bag on top of my very chic ironing board. I keep glancing at the green bag in complete despair and fear. I want to read Breaking Dawn but then I will have to face the end of my love affair with the Cullen's forever (this is the final book). How sad!! :-( The other part of me has to read this book because I must know the outcome. Will it be everything I hoped for? I guess I have to actually read it then. **SIGH** Pray for me...LOL!

My Top Three!

I've read quite a few books this year. Here are my three fave books so far...Oh, can I get a drum roll please??

1) ♥ Dennis Lehane, A Drink Before the War - This book was forced into my unwilling hands by a fellow book obsesstress. I was skeptical but once I read the first page of this fast paced ride, I was completely hooked! You can't stop your heart from falling in love with the main characters, Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro. Am I the only one hoping that someone comes to their senses and makes Patrick and Angela superstars on NBC??? Television series please!!

2) ♥ Erica Spindler, Cause for Alarm - I bought this book because I liked the cover of the book next to it, Shocking Pink (also by Erica Spindler)! I know, I have issues!! Anyway...the goddess of suspense doesn't disappoint in this romantic thriller. Kate and Richard Ryan are the perfect couple. They have good looks, successful careers and plenty of money. The only thing missing from this perfect marriage is a perfect baby. The insanity that the Ryan's have to face in order to have a baby is CAUSE FOR ALARM!!

3) ♥ Jeffery Deaver, The Empty Chair - This is the third book in "The Lincoln Rhyme Series" that I just happened to stumble across in the break room at my wonderful job. Rhyme, a quadriplegic since having his spinal cord crushed and his beautiful and brilliant protege, Amelia Sachs, take a trip to the University of North Carolina Medical Center so that Rhyme can undergo an experimental surgery to improve his condition. The local authorities learn that he is in town (he's pretty freaking famous) and call upon him and Sachs to help them find the prime suspect in a murder and kidnapping, Insect Boy! Let me tell you - this Boy is nasty!
