Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

Sharp ObjectsSharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Exciting, witty, a masterpiece. Gillian Flynn writes with expertise. I kind of LOVE her. There is no mediocrity. Her stories are well researched and written in a way that grabs you and keeps you intertwined until the very last page. This is suspense personified. She writes the kind of books that you cannot talk about without giving the story away. That takes talent. Keep 'em coming Flynn. I'm addicted to you like a bad habit!
Camille Preaker is a cutter. Words such as cook, cupcake, and petticoat etched on her skin by her own hand. Her first carved word at the age of thirteen, WICKED. Carved with her mother's steak knife, across her pubic bone. Camille, a Chicago Daily Post reporter, is sent to investigate two gruesome killings in her hometown of Wind Gap, Missouri. Two young girls were killed nine months apart. One body was found in the creek, the other was wedged between a beauty parlor and a hardware store. The murderer removed both girl's teeth with a plier. Gruesome. As Camille works her way through the town interviewing reluctant neighbors and witnesses, she begins to identify with the victims and uncovers a truth that will send her into a tailspin.

Oh So Sacred!

Dennis Lehane, Sacred - Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro are at it again in this amazing roller coaster of a novel! I've quickly become a huge Lehane fan. His writing style is superb! Anyway, this is the third book in the Kenzie/Gennaro "private eye" series. It begins when a dying billionaire hires the two to help find his missing daughter. Extremely grief stricken over her beloved mother's death, this billionaire's daughter, Desiree Stone, has been missing for three weeks. Her father, billionaire extraordinaire, Trevor Stone, will spare no expense to bring his daughter home safely or at least that is what he wants my fave detectives to believe. If you haven't read a Lehane book you need to start. This man is a true talent. A force to be reckoned with!! I love you Dennis!! ♥

My Top Three!

I've read quite a few books this year. Here are my three fave books so far...Oh, can I get a drum roll please??

1) ♥ Dennis Lehane, A Drink Before the War - This book was forced into my unwilling hands by a fellow book obsesstress. I was skeptical but once I read the first page of this fast paced ride, I was completely hooked! You can't stop your heart from falling in love with the main characters, Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro. Am I the only one hoping that someone comes to their senses and makes Patrick and Angela superstars on NBC??? Television series please!!

2) ♥ Erica Spindler, Cause for Alarm - I bought this book because I liked the cover of the book next to it, Shocking Pink (also by Erica Spindler)! I know, I have issues!! Anyway...the goddess of suspense doesn't disappoint in this romantic thriller. Kate and Richard Ryan are the perfect couple. They have good looks, successful careers and plenty of money. The only thing missing from this perfect marriage is a perfect baby. The insanity that the Ryan's have to face in order to have a baby is CAUSE FOR ALARM!!

3) ♥ Jeffery Deaver, The Empty Chair - This is the third book in "The Lincoln Rhyme Series" that I just happened to stumble across in the break room at my wonderful job. Rhyme, a quadriplegic since having his spinal cord crushed and his beautiful and brilliant protege, Amelia Sachs, take a trip to the University of North Carolina Medical Center so that Rhyme can undergo an experimental surgery to improve his condition. The local authorities learn that he is in town (he's pretty freaking famous) and call upon him and Sachs to help them find the prime suspect in a murder and kidnapping, Insect Boy! Let me tell you - this Boy is nasty!
