Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane

New York Times bestselling author Dennis Lehane has penned a psychological thriller centered around U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels and his partner, Chuck Aule. The year is 1954 and the two have been sent to Shutter Island, home of Ashecliffe Hospital for the Criminally Insane, to investigate the mysterious disappearance of Rachel Solando, a woman accused of drowning her children to death. As Daniels and Aule comb the island for clues, they stumble across evidence of lobotomies, radical experimentation, and a host of unethical medicinal treatments. As Teddy continues his investigation, he begins to wonder if he has been brought there under false pretenses. As a hurricane bears down on the island and disables all communication with the mainland, Teddy’s paranoia grows and he embarks on a quest to escape the island. If you are in the market for a fast paced, mind bender, Shutter Island doesn’t disappoint.

Also, look for the exciting film adaptation of the novel directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Teddy Daniels. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on October 2nd.
