Lil' Saaski

Eloise McGraw, The Moorchild - I loved this story! More so toward the end of the book. A powerful story about prejudice, this fantasy takes you into the world of Saaski or Moql'nkkn, as her Moorfolk people named her. Half human and half Moorfolk, she is banished from The Folk world, because of her inabilty to disappear, to live amongst the human race. She is swapped for an unchristened human baby and begins her life amongst the humans. Of course, she is feared because she looks and behaves differently than a human child. "Saaski's dusky skin had never lightened, while her wild bush of hair was paler than ever...with longer fingers and toes than was common." Having forgotten her life in The Folk, she grows up believing that her parents whom she affectionately calls Mumma and Da' are actually that. As time goes on, Saaski's forgotten beginnings begin to slowly emerge from the corners of her memories and she soon discovers that things are not as they seem. This is a heartwarming story, sure to touch the hearts of all who choose to pick it up and read.

♥♥♥♥ - heartwarming
